In Room 4 we have 23 enthusiastic, hard-working Year3/4 students. My aim is to provide a safe and supportive learning enviroment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and working through challenges to reach their full potential. As a class, we created expectations that we all need to follow in the classsroom, they include: being kind, trying our best, using our manners and using our initiative. Everyday students are engaged in a Literacy Block (which includes reading, spelling and writing) and a Numeracy Block (which includes mental maths and problem solving activities). To teach the various skill in Literacy and Numeracy we use the following programs in our blocks: Reading - CARS and STARS, Reading Eggs Spelling - Promoting Literacy Development Phonics Sequence (PLD) Writing - Talk 4 Writing, Promoting Literacy Development Phonics Dictation Maths - Stepping Stones, Paul Swan games, Mathletics In addition, students will participate in Civics and Citizenship (Semester 1), History (Semester 2), Digital Technologies (Semester 1), Design and Technologies (Semseter 2), Chinese, Art, Science, Protective Behaviours and the whole school Virtues program.
