Our Students - Room 11 - Miss Brown
Welcome To Room 11
In Room 11 we have 20 fabulous Year 1 students. Our teacher is Miss Brown and we are also supported by Mrs Clayton, Miss Penny and Mrs Graham during the week.
We aim to provide a safe, happy and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve to their full potential. This is reflected in our classroom expectations which are: be kind and respectful, try your hardest, and have fun.
In room 11 students learn through engaging in exploration, questioning, and hands on and play based experiences which reflect their needs, interests and strengths.
During the course of the day the children participate in a Literacy Block (which includes reading, spelling and writing) and a Numeracy Block. To teach the various skills in Literacy and Numeracy we use the following programs in our blocks:
· Reading – CARS and STARS, Dandelion readers, Sails readers, Reading Eggs
· Spelling – Promoting Literacy Development Phonics Sequence
· Writing – Talk For writing, Promoting Literacy Development Phonics Dictation
· Maths – Stepping Stones, Paul Swan games, Mathletics
In addition children will participate in History (Semester 1), Geography (Semester 2), Digital Technologies, Design and Technologies, Protective Behaviours and the whole school Virtues program.
